No, this is not an insurance product and not a part of any property or liability insurance policy.
Where is 529 Protect available?
529 Protect is available in the United States, except in Washington state.
Are e-bikes eligible?
Yes, provided the e-bike complies with U.S. federal and applicable state legislation (for example, Class 1/2/3 definitions, power and speed limits). Bikes that require registration/licensing as mopeds or motor vehicles under state law may not be eligible.
Which bikes qualify?
Most standard bicycles and eligible e-bikes registered in 529 Garage with complete details (serial number, photos, proof of ownership) will qualify.
What does the bike warranty benefit include?
The 529 Protect bike recovery warranty replaces your stolen bike up to the value of $3,000 per 529 Protect membership if it is not found after an eligible theft claim.
Can I register a second hand bike?
Yes of course, as long as you register the bike on 529 Protect within 90 days of purchase.
What documentation is required for a claim?
A complete 529 registration (eg; serial, photos), proof of ownership, up to date membership fees and a police report filed within 10 days of theft. Specifically we require a photo of the bike, with a shield attached, which could be validated either through the photo being taken with the app, the photo having a current timestamp in metadata, or visual proof in the photo of the current date. Additional documentation and incident/lock requirements may apply.
Does 529 Protect include your detection and recovery tools?
Yes. Protect includes advanced detection and recovery tools (community alerts, marketplace monitoring, safer marketplace features, and a verified badge).
What if a thief removes the 529 shield?
We get it. You have zero control over what a thief does with a stolen bike. That's why we require you to upload an image of the 529 shield on your registered bike. A thief's attempt to remove the shield does not remove the bike registration. You will always have your bike's digital footprint - the thieves can't take that away.
